Island of Arran - Scotland in minature
Described as "Scotland in Miniature", it features craggy mountains to the north, with a wealth of lush farmland to the south. Brodick hums with ceilidhs and activities and looking out overall is Brodick Castle. The island also boasts its own brewery, distillery, cheese-makers and the famous Arran Dairy Ice cream. There are sites of antiquity including impressive standing stones and castles with many opportunities to see interesting birds not often seen elsewhere including nesting golden eagles and red throated divers.
A day visitor to the island can see many of the attractions by using the round the island bus service, getting off at chosen destinations and then catching a later bus or simply choosing a round the island bus tour.
The ferry to Arran departs at regular intervals throughout the day from Ardrossan Brodick taking 55 minutes. Ardrossan has ample parking and is approximately 15 miles from the hotel with connections by bus and bicycle.
